MAMD watercolor

My Angel, My Devil concept drawing, watercolor version.

Something new I want to try out. I inked the drawing in Manga Studio and then print it out and paint it with watercolor. First I try print it out with my inkjet printer with watercolor paper. The ink didn't hold and bleed all over when I painted it. Then I try to print it with laser printer, but the toner didn't stick to the watercolor paper. When I watercolor it, the powder (for the line drawing) is falling off the page.

Finally I try print the line drawing on Bristol paper with laser printer. It works. The toner didn't fall off when I paint over it. The only problem is the Bristol paper didn't absorb the water well and the color is hard to pick up once it sets into the paper. I will try hot press watercolor next to see if that works better. (Can't find it in my local art store though...)

Color: Strathmore Bristol paper smooth 100lb, watercolor.
